Joseph Conrad Square is a square in San Francisco, California. ==History== Joseph Conrad Square is a small triangular square at Columbus Avenue and Beach Street, near Fisherman's Wharf, in San Francisco, California. It was dedicated in 1971 by then Mayor Joseph Alioto,and named for novelist Joseph Conrad, who had twice visited San Francisco. ''Apocalypse Now'', which had been inspired by Conrad's novella, ''Heart of Darkness'', was released in 1979. The triangular park had as its centerpiece the stern piece of the only ship that Conrad ever commanded.
